Southampton Town Animal Shelter cuts anger critics

This is a travesty! Those animals, most through no fault of their own, are homeless and have no one to advocate for them. WE humans are to blame for their circumstances, and we have a moral obligation to provide them with the appropriate care.

It's absurd to think that outsourcing the necessary veterinary services will cut costs enough to justify the wasted staff time and the disruption of care for the animals. Having an in-house vet tech is not a luxury, it's a necessity.

Maybe more attention should be paid to paring down the administrative costs?! The budget might be a little heavy there . . . " Dec 17, 08 5:21 PM

Adoption applications on the rise at animal shelter

I hope the people who are motivated to come in to adopt puppies will realize that the older dogs also need homes, and in so many ways are an even better choice than a puppy . . . they all deserve to be loved!" Feb 24, 09 7:54 PM

Some shoppers are upset with plans for Westhampton Beach Waldbaum's

I've shopped that H&@*hole of a grocery store exactly three times in the last year, even though I live less than 1 mile away. It's well worth the trip to Riverhead to buy frozen foods WITHOUT ice crystals all over them, as well as fresh produce and milk that is actually within its expiration date - such a concept.

The Westhampton Beach Waldaum's needs a wrecking ball . . . but why would they bother to invest in the physical plant when so many people continue to tolerate the situation and spend their hard-earned money there? Not me, no more.

Supervisor proposes $1 million in budget cuts

Sure, let's cut more staff from the Animal Shelter - pretty soon the dogs will be in charge of filling their own bowls and letting themselves out on bathroom breaks, while the cats clean their litter boxes.!

Take away from the ones who can't defend themselves or complain to the press - another good election year move!
