Westhampton Beach Offers Police Chief Job To Wilson; Rescinds Offer Six Days Later

Who should run it? Why do we need it? I know WHB is rife with crime and criminals, but Is taxpayer money that easy to come by?" Dec 9, 14 2:02 PM

Second Female Sergeant Sues Southampton Town, Police Officials, Alleging Discrimination

Sgt. Ralph is a good person and a good police officer but this is just another legal feeding frenzy sponsored by me and my fellow taxpayers. It's very sad.

Stony Brook Southampton To Launch Master's Program In Health Administration

There is no need for this program. Every year Columbia graduates an army of health care administrators, most of whom can't find jobs and the prospect is getting worse as hospitals and other health care institutions consolidate. I feel bad for the people that get suckered into programs like these and come out of it with loans they can't pay off since they can't get work.

Theater Review: Restraint Adds Up To A Powerful Climax In 'Intimate Apparel'

Lorraine, nice review but as a woman, you failed to communicate the message of the story: men are manipulative, immature, and worthless fools. I find this message offensive. Because you are a woman, this wouldn't bother you. I understand this. But it bothers me. Why is this politically correct? Would you like women portrayed this way? Would you consider this politically correct? Would you bring it up? I bet you would." Jul 13, 17 11:18 AM

Woman Upset After Piebald Deer Is Killed Near Her Hampton Bays Home

I find people here generally unfriendly and antisocial. I guess that's why they consider a deer a 'friend.' It's kind of pathetic, and a sad commentary on our ability to socialize with other humans. Make a human friend today!

Westhampton Beach Village Police Put Forward Plan To Station Armed Officer In Schools

Why wouldn't they 'put forward a plan' that helps ensure their continued existence? Since when is self-preservation laudable? Yeah, yeah, their intentions are noble. On the other hand, this will be a great way for kids to learn what it's like to live in a police state." Feb 28, 18 7:42 PM

Zeldin Says Families Should Be Detained Together, But Sees Little Sign Of Legislative Progress

Maybe I am the only one that feels this way, but I don't really consider this a top priority issue for the government to concern itself with. Maybe this helps explain why congressman and senators get absolutely nothing done because they spend way too much time on unimportant issues. (I know this is important to Democrats because they see it as a capital opportunity to discredit Republicans but all politicians should be ashamed of themselves for how they spend their time accomplishing absolutely nothing with narrow ideological debates.) There is so much that needs to get done. It is sickening to me,." Jun 25, 18 3:40 PM

UPDATE: Shinnecock Tribe Continues Billboard Work As Lawsuit With State Looms

I think the comments here are mean and unproductive. A lot of trolls with a lot of axes to grind. I know there's not a lot to do out here sometimes, but this is how you've chosen to fill your time? Btw, I drove past the sign yesterday. It is huge and absurd. A fitting allegory for a complete loss of common sense. That sign will cause a lot of accidents. I hope the people behind it will be happy then.

Advocates For Affordable Housing Throw Support Behind Proposed 60-Unit Complex In Southampton

Apparently you are not a landlord if you think Section 8 is a winner. You have absolutely no idea what an onerous, horrible program this is for landlords. It is not a solution, only an ineffective government program that I wouldn't go anywhere near after having already experienced it. (The real "winning" part is when the tenants fail to meet the Section 8 eligibility requirements and the checks stop coming. And then the tenant won't leave. Do you think the government provides any relief for the 3-month eviction process?? Think again.) Basically, there is nothing in it for the landlord, except for alleged automatic, regular checks. It's a complete con game.

Alex Gregor Beats Out Jay Schneiderman For Independence Line, Forcing A Three-Way Race For Supervisor In November

Nothing could be worse than the current board, which is incompetent and corrupt. They routinely make ill-informed decisions while acting like pompous asses. Not that we'll ever know, but Gregor couldn't possibly do worse.

Southampton Village Board Amends Surfing Restrictions, Will Set Up Committee To Look At Issue

Earlier this summer I was swimming at Hot Dog Beach, something I've doing for around 45 years. And for the first time, there were surfers in the swimming area annoying the hell out of the swimmers that were there. Eventually, they got bored and left since there are really no waves here so it was difficult for them to show off in the front of their friends on the beach. I am a body surfer and rare are the days you can even catch a wave it's so weak here. And 90% of the time, the waves break so close to the shore that you can't ride them unless you want to break your neck or separate your shoulder. It would have been good if the police did chase them away since I didn't feel safe swimming where they were attempting to surf. There is a lot of ocean and beach out there; they don't have to do their thing in swimming areas; swimmers have rights too. God Bless the police for enforcing a law that does protect swimmers. And 'surfers' -- stop whining, there are so few good waves here anyway if you were serious about surfing you'd be doing it somewhere else." Aug 20, 19 9:40 AM

I appreciate those that took the time to put my comments into historical perspective. Makes me wonder how we could have progressed from great live music, the Pagans and unhindered surf, to candyass surfers on three foot waves who insist on performing right in front of their friends on public beaches at the expense of body surfers and swimmers minding their own business."
