Hampton Bays Residents Sue To Stop Shinnecock Canal Projects

Some people would rather look at that dilapidated dump than see HB finally make some progress in improving its reputation. Progress is contagious, fix this up and others will follow. Let things sit there and rot and there will be more deterioration and more regression and property values will never improve. Maybe we get more poop from all the illegals that show up because no one else wants to come to HB. " May 13, 15 7:51 PM

It appears that this report is incorrect, according to Newsday it is Shinnecock Hills' residents and not HB residents filing the lawsuit. Doesn't make me feel any better, but at least we know where the opposition is really coming from. " May 15, 15 4:27 PM

Hampton Bays Village Exploration Pushes Ahead With Incorporation Plans

What's the point? I've lived in two villages and taxes are always higher and local laws much more restrictive (some are good for the area, but probably once an area has been developed, as has HB, it's too late to implement the good rules, I'm talking about zoning, lot sizes, fences, street parking, etc. - Homes and businesses are already here, you can't tell a resident on a small lot with a small house to start over. There's too many motels, you can't get rid of them now. The residents are already dug in, picture everyone being told they can't store their boats on their property in the winter, having to move sheds and fences, not being able to park on the street overnight, etc,,etc and then having to pay higher taxes). We need to get Main Street fixed up and attractive and do some smart development and then showcase the great things about HB, the beaches, waterways, restaurants on the water, etc. Get the HB Chamber of Commerce and civic organizations to concentrate on these areas and HB will be much improved. Let's get out there and ask people and businesses to clean up and tidy up, we need to take pride in our community and it will be contagious. A Village won't help at this stage of the game." Hundreds Decry Montauk Weekend Mayhem

It amazes me how an article about MTK turns into an HB bash-athon. If this is the attitude toward HB by most Southampton residents, maybe the supporters of an incorporated village for HB aren't so wrong." Jul 15, 15 5:22 PM

Hampton Bays Village Exploration Committee To Hold Informational Meeting

$3M won't even cover the legal fees for all the lawsuits that will be filed. See this week-end's Newsday article about Mastic Beach. School taxes are already ridiculously high, now add a village tax, people will be moving out faster than they will be moving in. Of course, I assume, part-time residents will have no vote on this matter? If there ever turns out to be any benefits from incorporation, most of us won't be around to see it.
Let's hope this idea dies fast!" Oct 5, 15 12:19 PM

Westhampton Beach Waldbaum's Employees Are Seeking Help To Save Their Jobs

Typical union mentality, when it backfires and no one has a job they still won't be able to figure it out. " Oct 9, 15 3:54 PM

Don't forget, you're talking about union employees. Their pensions are with the unions, not the private companies and are guaranteed by the PBGC, a government entity.

Hampton Bays Library Seeking To Build New $13.3 Million Facility

You have to be kidding me, anybody ever hear of the internet? iBooks? This is tantamount to expanding your horseshoe business after the mass production of automobiles. $108 per year, at the low end - PLEASE VOTE THIS DOWN! " Nov 20, 15 9:01 PM

We need more outrage!!!!! We need to start an online petition and writing letters to the trustees. Let's sell the building and start an E-Library for the community where residents can read check-out and return book online.

Remind these trustees about what happened to the horse & buggy, 8 track music, the cassette player, CD's, the VCR, the fax machine, the USPS, etc, etc.

" Nov 22, 15 9:44 AM

Have to love people like you, it's not $13M+++ wasted - it's 32 cents a day and all of a sudden it's a community center. I can think of a ton of things I'd rather spend my 32 cents a day for the next 20 or 30 years than this ridiculous project.
