Two critically injured in accident on CR39 Monday morning

As someone who has worked hack myself, the fares come over the radio from dispatch, and the passengers hear it over the squawk.

You have to be fingerprinted, and a background check run before you can legally operate a cab in the town of Southampton.

Limos are unmarked, but not taxis. Limos have plates that state such on the vehicle.

Back to the original subject, this kid was eighteen, drunk, and proceeding in the eastbound lane of CR 39 at a very unsafe speed. The front end of his car can tell you that. The cab had the green arrow, regardless of whether he made the turn at the intersection, or into 7-11, this kid blew the red light, and hurled human beings into the roadway from the other vehicle.

It's a shame someone so young has destroyed their life, but that's what all this wealth and affluence has brought to this town. The citdiots have poisoned this place with their money and mentality.

I liked it better when they came, and then left..." May 26, 09 11:38 AM

Man cited after altercation with Giuliani on Bridgehampton street

I would herby nominate both these jokers as co-morons of the millenium.

Can I get sued for that?" May 26, 09 11:50 AM

Riverhead man stabbed to death in front of Hampton Bays Diner

I remember a time when all this bull did not go on.

I remember a time when we didn't need so many police officers, and had a negligible crime rate.

You want to pin blame on anyone, pin it on the nitwits who exploited this place for every cent they could, and brought this element to our town.

If it wasn't for all the publicity and citdiot wealth, we would still be a relatively quiet resort community without a population it cannot sustain properly." May 26, 09 11:57 AM

Restaurant drama plays out on Madame Tong's lawn again

Give us back the Hansom House!

I saw John briefly a while back when he was down here for a bit, and he's doing and looking well.

I wonder what he would opine about this..." May 26, 09 12:03 PM

Kabot says town in the process of correcting fiscal crisis

Every home is overvalued in this town, ask anyone born in the last thirty years how their home is hunting is going in the town they were born in.

This should come as no surprise that these are the conditions fiscally in this town.

Look at the "Jones'" we have to play catch up to. They waltz into town, and get whatever their overpriced lawyers state they want, and obviously we can't afford to fight back.

The greed and incompetence is staggering not just here, but in every facet of government from here to the federal.

For Providence's sake, look at the "Jones'" we have to play catch up to.

Can't imagine why we're broke..." May 26, 09 12:15 PM

Southampton Town restructures its finance department, hires new comptroller

All of us in the real world who botched their job on this massive a level WOULD NO LONGER HAVE ONE WITH THE COMPANY WE WORKED FOR.

I hereby invite this town government to join the "real world", and stop screwing their constituents." May 26, 09 12:23 PM

New hiking trail will honor beloved outdoorsman

I agree, I just implore those of you that do, to take out of the wood everything you have brought into the wood with you.

That even means cigarette butts.

I personally have grown weary of finding discarded items of trash in the wood, and piles dumped by people who just don't seem to know any better.

I implore you to leave nature as pristine as you found it." May 26, 09 12:27 PM

Trial ground for Amber Waves

Thanks for your commitment to farming in a day when the land out here seems to be seen as suited better for Mc Mansions than food.

Remember, NO farms, NO food!" May 26, 09 12:39 PM

Two critically injured in accident on CR39 Monday morning

You misread my intent, I said it was the citdiot infliuence that fosters this type of behavior.

The victims exhibited responsible, adult behavior, and I did not chastise them in the least. Nor did I call them citdiots.

Please do not read so rashly, or into what people have to say." May 26, 09 12:46 PM

Dragon's Head meeting wrecking ball

I worked in that house when Galesi remodeled it, and what I would call it when the walls were stripped bare would be a "hodge-podge".

I distinctly remember a former spiral staircase buried in a wall for one thing, and basement was like a maze, and a different decor in every room.

What you need with 47,000 sq. ft. is beyond me, except to remind locals how you've screwed their kids out of living in their hometown.

Then again, maybe I'm just being negative..." May 26, 09 1:15 PM

What do you people think this is???

Blazing Saddles!?!?!?

You ain't Mel Brooks, and your labeling, bigoted crap "tain't funny McGee".

Last time I checked, my blood is red.

What about yours?" May 27, 09 10:08 PM

Surf Lodge under heat from county and locals

What this can be condidered is simply another means by which someone has found a way to exploit the East End for profit. You really should not have this type of establishment so close to a delicate estuary. Besides the things mentioned such as the septic system, in addition as Liman pointed out, look at the filth people leave behind. I was born here, and when I myself. or with friends enjoy what the local waters and flora have to offer, we bag all our trash, and take it back out with us. We leave nothing behind, but maybe a few hairs. These "outsiders", who rarely share the same love and respect many of us have for this area, carelessly and drunkenly litter the area with trash. The increased accumulation of trash everywhere, not only along the side of the road, is astronomical by comparison as to when I was a child. Mo' people, mo' problems. It's great you want to run a business where people can enjoy themselves, but how about you educate your consumers? We have alot of rules, for alot of reasons. Some can be bent, but you really shouldn't break them. Maybe some UCs writing littering tickets would change some tunes. Who knows..." Jul 24, 09 9:40 AM

Thousands of bunker chased ashore in Sagaponack

Will we be cleaning them up, or let Mother Nature take it's course.

Nothin' like the smell of fresh bunker oil in the mornin'!!!!!" Jul 24, 09 9:51 AM

Developers share details of new Hampton Business and Technology Park

Well, let's see what the artist's conception looks like.

Something this big, and there should be some diorama, or display at the town hall. That way everyone can look at it at their leisure, right?

This an excellent use of the airport property, and will bring a sum of money that we should use wisely. Not on ridiculous salries, but how about on the people for a change? Set it aside for something like more investing in 21st centry business.

Long Island has long been a staple for research, and scientific breakthrough.

The Hotel, I have my doubts about. There are already way too many people that pack onto this end of the island every summer. The increase in daily population alone over the last 8 years is phenomenal. Though it will bring jobs, what will they pay, nine bucks an hour to the help tops? Will we get a corporate that is willing to pay on the basis of cost of living to the locals who will undoubtedly take jobls there? Summer would be busy, and the holidays as well, I'm sure. Will we take away business from the "little guys" dotting Montauk Hwy.? Alot of questions to be answered..." Jul 24, 09 10:06 AM

Congressman defends calls for health care reform

Jean, I also enjoyed your post.

People nee to start looking at the real, and big picture. So many things need to change, top of the list, people being cared for. We've had this country for over 200 years, and we are standing on the shoulders of those who came before us.

The way we are is how we honor them?

Not caring for every single soul, and giving one the best chance to achieve all that their life would allow them to?

Stop standing on the backs of others to live in luxury, that would be my response, and advice considering Empire's latest actions.

How much does the CEO take home of each successive company higher up the chain? Do some digging, and slash that total you get by just 20%, and you would still have quite a sizable sum to work with.

We live in a country where a police chief asks for $250/hr., and there are people he is supposed to serve and protect, that make less than that a week at ONE job, something is seriously wrong.

Sorry to punch another headline, but I feel the principle of the matter is relative.

Standing on the bruised backs of the majority does not a strong country make.

Nor a happy country.

Thomas Jefferson once warned about corporations becoming the next aristocracy. If you take a good look around, through HIS eyes, and point of view, from his world's perspective historically, was his fear unfounded?" Aug 3, 09 7:01 PM

Tuckahoe superintendent resigns amid furor

I would opine that in three member board, the veto power should fall to the people, with the tiebreaker vote going to the senior member of the board, should there by some astronomical chance a deadlock occurs.

Then again, maybe that's just plain crazy..." Aug 3, 09 7:28 PM

East Hampton reassessment bill fails

Personally, I like her style.

The situation, not just here but worldwide, is out of control. Estimation of self worth and entitlement has reached an unsustainable high.

All the money addicts, it's time recover from the DTs, and started building an infrastructure that actually works, as well as being equitable and sustainable.

Hospitals and insurer fail to reach agreement; Empire not accepted at East End hospitals

Greed, greed, greed, avarice, and the price of malpractice insurance.

What does the hospital's CEO get a year, 3.5 million at last public mention.

Most of the problem is the jokers who run these outfits." Aug 4, 09 7:17 PM

Trustees approve bulldozing on beach to help dunes

So, it's a great pilot program.

The real problem here isn't the erosion, it's the jacka****s who have built their "monuments to excess" on roving dunes, which should be protected from being built upon. PERIOD.

Thank the stars that these nitwits grandiose monuments are no longer pooled with everyone else's homes. IF ONE of these homes went into the ocean, the claim would be astronomical.

Kick them off the dunes, and save the world alot of headache.

Just my opinion, I could be way off." Aug 4, 09 7:24 PM
