HBWD To Present Opposing Argument To SCWA Proposal To Manage Local Water Next Week

The Hampton Bays Water District charges more for water, neglects the infrastructure, provides unsafe water for months at a time, and then intentionally misleads the public to save their little fiefdom. " Dec 11, 18 9:57 AM

The HBWD has admitted that for typical low-use household in HB the HBWD charges customers 50% more, when you include the water tax rate on a $390,000 home. " Dec 13, 18 8:50 AM

The Pres is aware that their reporting on the rate comparisons is flawed (because of averaging) and they are considering a deeper dive into rates which will show that most households pay more with HBWD than they would with SCWA." Dec 13, 18 8:54 AM

The fact that the main spokesman for the HBWD was arrested for stealing $50,000 is relevant to selecting who should manage the HBWD." Dec 13, 18 10:25 AM

Hampton Bays Water District Officials Speak Out Against SCWA Proposal To Manage Local Water

Mr. King states that: “We’re the ones you see in the supermarket." Really? We should choose who manages our water supply by who we see at the supermarket? This is the best reason he can come up with as to why we shouldn't let the expert team at SCWA manage our water?

Southampton Officials Wait To Hold Water District Vote Until Numbers Are Crunched

SCWA will provide safer water at a lower cost. Councilwoman Julie Lofstadt has not done enough to get the facts out. She knows that the HBWD leadership has been intentionally misleading the public, and she has said nothing. Councilwoman Lofstadt, please speak up." Jan 30, 19 2:34 PM

Christine is term-limited, wants to be supervisor, and is intentionally hurting the people of Hampton Bays to give herself talking points for a campaign. The town comptroller said our rates would go up 70% if we stay with HBWD. She kept stating it may be less, never providing any rationale. The rest of the town council and comptroller all said it is much more likely that the costs would be even higher if we stay with HBWD. She just ignored that, and kept repeating "it may be less", "it may be less". Disgraceful. " Feb 1, 19 9:55 AM

Roughrider: I just read your past posts, you have been a relentless shill for Christine for over 5 years. I could try to persuade you with facts, but clearly you and HB Proud have no interest in facts or in ever changing your mind." Feb 6, 19 9:07 AM

Hampton Bays Water District Officials Dispute Test Results Showing High Manganese Levels In Drinking Water

The current management of HBWD can not be trusted with the safety of our water supply. They are poisoning everyone in HB. They then attempt to cover it up with lies and half-truths." Feb 19, 19 1:42 PM

Suffolk County Water Authority Says Hampton Bays Water District's Iron And Manganese Levels Exceeded Limits Last Summer

So when the County Health Dept. tested the black water it had a manganese level that was 16 times over the safe limit. (4.9/.3). At this high level, manganese is very harmful to children. Robert King and Warren Booth said the black water was safe to drink. We now know it was not." Feb 26, 19 3:11 PM

Hampton Bays Fire Department Added To New York Superfund List For Contamination

The groundwater at the fire house is poisoned with 2,400 ppt of PFOS and PFOA. This is 240 times over the new limit in NYS of 10 ppt. 240 times over the limit is deadly. Robert King is our Water Superintendent and also the person most responsible for the contamination of our water supply by the Fire Dept. And yet he won't talk, and is hiding behind an attorney? " Mar 1, 19 3:58 PM

Hampton Bays Water District Officials Dispute Test Results Showing High Manganese Levels In Drinking Water

THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT (NOT SCWA) PERFORMED THE TEST THAT SHOWED THE BLACK WATER WAS UNSAFE TO DRINK. The black water was contaminated with manganese 16 times over the limit (4.9/.3). Robert Kling and Warren Booth said the black water was safe to drink. We now know it was not." Mar 3, 19 9:50 AM

SCWA is a non-profit, so they can not profit. There is no selling of anything, what is proposed is a management agreement. We still own everything and can cancel the management agreement at anytime. " Mar 3, 19 12:21 PM

Southampton Town Board Approves Bel-Aire Motel Purchase, 4-1

The risk to the taxpayer is minimal; the lot has commercial value equal to or exceeding what the Town is paying. I would have preferred CPF purchase with keeping the lot empty as a natural buffer. (The lot is not suitable for a park, it fronts a narrow back bay that is unsafe for swimming so not suitable for paddle board or kayak launch). But ask any business owner in HB, and they will tell you that Increasing tourism is a worthy goal. This plan could work.
" Apr 10, 19 9:48 AM

The price will be determined by the winning bid at a public auction. If anyone thinks it will be a great deal for the ultimate buyer, then place your bid.
" Apr 10, 19 10:07 AM

This property has clear value, there will be multiple bidders." Apr 10, 19 6:32 PM

Good point. The reason it wasn't purchased on the open market is because the zoning restrictions and permissible improvements were NOT clear to any buyer. The Town will demolish the structure and determine what will be permitted, and therefore competing developers will have a clear understanding of the property value." Apr 11, 19 8:55 AM

Primary Set For Democratic Southampton Town Trustee Candidates

I can’t vote in a democrat primary, but no way do we need the traitors Hevemeyer and Shultz back on the Trustees. Thyey are argumentative know-it-all’s and no one could stand working with them when they were trustees. " Jun 13, 19 7:13 AM

The Republicans have a great slate of Trustee candidates that will work together and represent all the people of Southampton Town: Warner, Horowitz, Fry, Law and Heckman. " Jun 13, 19 2:42 PM

Southampton Town Holds First Public Hearing On Balloon Ban

Every single day I pick balloons out of the bay and beach. They are killing wildlife. Helium filled balloons are treacherous and serve little purpose. My grandkids have never received a helium filled balloon in their lives, and they are fine with it -because they pick them off the beach too. The ban will send a clear message to those who already don't know the danger." Jun 13, 19 3:09 PM
