I never see American (U.S.) residents trying as hard to get a job. If you were ever to a third world country maybe you would be a bit more empathetic to these people and what they must endure. I don't blame a single one of them for piling themselves up in a van or on a makeshift boat headed for the "Promise Land".
Benefits they bring:
The little guy just starting out in business with higher start up costs (new equipment & material stock purchases) can actually bid some projects at a lower cost & maybe win some jobs!
The person who rents them a place to live can pay off a mortgage on their house, or their investment home!
The grocer benefits from their purchases of food & supplies!
and so on...and so on..."

To put you "in the know" you would have to realize that the installer put in the ground what they were contracted to do. The problem was that it was never inspected by the SC Health Dept....as the article states, the project was hurried along to get the paving done before the cold temps set in & paving would not be possible." How could the Village complain about a couple hundred extra people spending money in their village that otherwise wouldn't be there? Snooty booty!" Sep 1, 09 1:03 PM
so now everyone's going to build a tree stand in their yards? ...I am sure this is how it goes upstate...but not gonna happen here" Oct 19, 09 11:24 AM
I am an avowed bunny hugger...and I would rather people hunt deer FOR FOOD than support the mass production of meat that is steroid fed where the animals live in filthy living conditions. At least they were able to have a healthy life, and this healthier meat would be better for those that ate it." Oct 19, 09 11:29 AM
Thank you!!!" Oct 19, 09 4:38 PM
A shortage that all of the Big Oil companies created? There's no shortage...and there won't be without a falsely created one for profit. i.e. Exxon/Mobil making record profits while jacking the prices." Oct 19, 09 4:51 PM
Well...if it needs to be dimantled...I would surely love some kitchen cabinets that are newer than the 60 year old ones falling apart in my house...and an updated refrigerator, washer & dryer...I don't have tens of thousands to move a whole house, but would love pieces of one! ...windows, doors..." and it would actually be to update the home my grandfather built...where we had our Christmases & "Polish Easters" with babka & kielbasa!" Oct 19, 09 4:58 PM
...and YOU "don't have a clue" about saying things in a tactful manner. You always try to start fights with all your put-downs & negativity. Why must you always jab jab jab at everyone? Why not just try "educating" them in an informative way without all the anger?" Oct 20, 09 4:01 PM
and that should have been "dismantled"" Oct 20, 09 4:31 PM
It serves Brookhaven Hamlet, Bellport Village, & Hagerman...as well as, I suppose, those in need elsewhere!" Oct 26, 09 3:09 PM
This is the same policy followed by the NYPD...if you are home sick or disabled you may not leave the house without permission. They can call to check on you at any time." Oct 28, 09 12:10 PM
