Race For Congressional Seat Warms Up

Here we go again... let's try focusing on the abysmal performance of the incumbent Tim Bishop rather than the political talking points accusing the challenger of outsourcing. For the record, outsourcing has been shown to increase net jobs and GDP and let's not confuse outsourcing with offshoring. " Feb 16, 12 6:53 PM

"Offshoring, or outsourcing, it's one less job in our home market."

Nice try, but extremely short sighted, inaccurate, and not to two completely different things so please don't minimize the distinct differences as Tim Bishop and his boss are guilty of offshoring jobs which removes all aspects of the production process vs. inefficient elements. Outsourcing is clearly unfortunate for those whose jobs are being outsourced. However, with the resulting bump in short-term unemployment, its long-term benefits outweigh its costs through efficiency, cost savings and improved market competetiveness. All of which positively contribute to the expansion of the economy. Think big picture. " Feb 16, 12 9:12 PM

Tim Bishop Given Environmental Steward Award

Now that we know the left advocates choice, I'd like to excercise my choice to opt out of Obamacare, for starters. " Feb 22, 12 5:30 PM

I'd like the choice to opt out of being mandated to participate in Obamacare. Since it's been established that the left advocates choice, I'd like to have the opportunity to consider choice as an option. Maybe I can't afford the affordable healthcare provided by the act and maybe I can't afford the penalty either. " Feb 22, 12 6:06 PM

Barack Obama is roughly 152% more “unpatriotic” than Bush.
Barack Obama had added over $4 trillion to the national debt in less than three years, which puts him on track in one term to beat the record that took W two terms to set.

During the 2008 election Barack called W irresponsible and unpatriotic for the spending. Barack has far outpaced the level of spending which by his own definition and application to W, is well outside the realm of patriotic.
" Feb 24, 12 11:00 PM

How exactly does already hight debt get paid off by incurring exorbitant more debt? So called unfunded mandates like NCLB aren't included in the federal budget deficit as they are state requirements. Clinton started the concept of no bid contracts with awards to Halliburton in 1992, when Cheney was not the vice president. Obama has continued the no bid practice as well with awards to Halliburton. Obama has also awarded no bid contracts to Democratic campaign contributors. Every single penny of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been funded through normal government funding channels and yes, included in the debt tabulation.

Springs Resident Calls For East Hampton Councilwoman Theresa Quigley To Resign In Wake Of "Nazis" Comment

She goes on to talk about how the code violations are attracting transients, and this being a threat to the community...

Tell us about the part where she (doesn't) say anything about it "needing to be investigated."

And so what if they are watching... neighborhood watches exist in communities around the country... THIS IS A GOOD THING." Mar 16, 12 10:44 PM

Connwatcher, you clearly did not attend or watch the video of the meeting in question. There were no pitch forks or crowds chanting, just concerned citicens exercising their right to free speech. Free speech, the rule of law and right to peaceful enjoyment of ones property are reflective of American values.

You're not hearing the word "assimilate" because the misrepresented argument is that this is about race... it's not. It is about illegal housing. Why would latinos and latino leaders be invited to an illegal housing summit??? They would be welcome to attend just like any other. IF the residents of the illegal housing are predominantly latino, that's not the fault of the concerned citizens of Springs. But are we now giving special consideration to latinos just because of their race, as if they check a box on their ethnicity, and Town Code does not apply? " Mar 19, 12 9:59 AM

Altschuler Challenges Bishop To Debate On Health Care

Tiana, some distinction needs to be made to your points. I call someone who creates a company that offers cheaper solutions to product or processes of a business, a businessman. Now, an elected leader like Tim Bishop who directly voted to approve funds intended to promote American jobs that conversely contributed to the off shoring of jobs, this would be either a traitor or incompetent... take your pick. Either way, that's Tim Bishop.

Very little credibility should be given to questioning Altschuler’s reasons for moving to District 1. Whether they were political or personally motivated, it's a great place to live and raise a family and even start a business as his wife has done. Politics is strewn with individuals who "relocate" to districts for one reason or another. Obama moved from Hawaii to Jakarta back to Hawaii to a slew of other places until landing in Chicago to represent Illinois. So what? Is that to say he represents Hawaii better than he would Illinois? Pure nonsense.

Illegal Immigration: In Pursuit Of The American Dream

But it doesn't give someone the right to go hands on as it appears Martin did. You appear Phil to have latched on to the rush to judgement sensation along with the dishonest portrayal by the media and Al Sharpton.

Martin picked the wrong state and the wrong person to assault and it cost him dearly. I'm confident that the grand jury will review the evidence and take whatever action is appropriate.

"Add this to Trayvon call, when Zimmerman apparently muttered a racial slur"

100% FALSE. You are referencing the NBC edited version which unethically and dishonetly paints a completely different message intended for no other purpose than to incite hate and divisiveness.

Here is all you need to know about why Zimmerman hasn't been arrested: A new witness to the shooting has come forward and claims the 17-year-old did in fact attack George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who shot and killed Martin." "His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman’s claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman."

Fact is, you weren't there yet you've already convicted Zimmerman based on nothing other than untrue and non-related events. Zeig Heil!!!

Altschuler Challenges Bishop To Debate On Health Care

Phil, you are touchihng on the states RIGHTS to regulate abortion and create laws which ensure the health of a women during an abortion procedure. The unecessary procedure you refer to have been determined by the individual state as being in the best interest of the female to ensure their health and well being and complegtely in line with the intentions of the SCOTUS." Apr 7, 12 10:02 PM

I don’t have much comment as I don’t know much about it other than they haven't been signed yet and I don’t normally rely on one (left leaning) source for my news and that’s all I could pretty much find. I do have a suspicion that this is related to bigger political issues connected to the no love lost between Obama and Brewer.

Roe vs Wade created a hotly contested national debate that continues today, about issues including whether and to what extent abortion should be legal, who should decide the legality of abortion, and what the role should be of religious and moral views. Laws get tested all the time. This is no different. " Apr 10, 12 8:41 PM

As noted in Roe vs Wade, state interests became stronger over the course of a pregnancy. That doesn't mean they don't have an interest early on during a pregnancy. I'm more puzzled with why a post gets deleted when it doesn't contain duplicate or offensive content yet a barrage of other posts taking an exact counter point remain. The new definition in the proposed law is in line with how doctors typically determine gestational age. No doubt the decision is being tested; it happens every day in the legal process. It's what makes the legal process go round and round and I don't really take the issue as a personal afront. " Apr 11, 12 9:54 AM

Back up your "claims" with sources: The republican party is the party of racists and bigots. Sources please, and do I dare say, legitimate sources, aftre all, you've already provided the self proclaimed facts. Don’t forget Phil, you’ve included an entire group in your disdain. The very group you rail about.

"I avoid republican hangouts at all costs." Isn’t avoiding an entire group in its entirety like someone in the KKK avoiding, blacks or Jews? Hmmm, sounds much like the mindset of a bigot!! " Apr 11, 12 11:07 PM

Bishop, Altschuler and Demos Sound Off On House GOP Budget

So once again Tim Bishop votes against a plan to avert financial disaster in favor of business as usual, more spending and at best, increasing taxes that have been proven to only sctach the surface of the rampant spending. Good to know. " Apr 12, 12 3:06 PM

Yes indeed, more scare tactics from the left and more of the same misrepresentations. No such cuts exist for the weather service, it’s another Obama campaign scare tactic talking point and specifically not contained in the Ryan budget. Ryan’s budget is a blueprint that sets overall funding levels for the various areas of government.

The Democrat plan leaves medicare and medicade untouched, because we all know, it is efficient and financially sound and will be there for generations to come…. NOT. The democrat plan defers cost-saving provisions of Obamacare to control Medicare costs for seniors. Problem being, Obamacare is wrought with double accounting and savings that will never materialize, sending us deeper into debt and further jeopardizing both medicare and medicade as well as the financial health and economy of the country.

The Ryan plan, which proposes cutting tax rates and a dramatic revamping of Medicare to curb costs for FUTURE retirees. The plan cuts $5.3 trillion over the next decade — entirely through deep cuts in entitlements and agency spending. The key here…. FUTURE retirees.

The Ryan budget plan is far from perfect but does add the element of compromise which the left wants nothing to do with. It does add to the federal debt and it fails to balance the budget. Obama’s plan is even worse as it continues to bury the country in debt and add to entitlements which are exactly what the Democrats want; more voters addicted to government assistance.
" Apr 12, 12 7:51 PM

I love the so called progressives that have to roll back the hands of time to make a point. Their rage, anger and hostility seems to be timeless. Yes, FDR and the DuPont's did have a little go round. It involved FDR going after the legitimate and lawful holdings of several companies for what FDR described as legalized avoidance or evasion. The left couldn't distinguish between tax avoidance and tax evasion and they failed to produce any significant changes with the end result being if political leaders didn't like the tax law, then they should change it. They didn’t.

FDR and the left enjoyed vilifying a few rich taxpayers and corporations and it was the modern day version of making sure everyone paid their “fair share” and going after the 1%. SSDD. " Apr 13, 12 12:46 PM

It's because we don't have to look far to see the Agitator in Chief for what he is. Obama has condoned the degradation of women and misogynist behavior and a host of othe divisive insults like telling people to get out there and punish your enemies - enemies being other Americans. And lest not foregt the host of racially driven undertoned comments like Republicans riding in the back of the bus. Threatening and intimidating the Supreme Court, silence over the New Black Panther threats, and the list could go on and on. " Apr 14, 12 1:25 AM

“You guys”? What, women’s opinions don’t matter to you? I suppose when you want women’s opinion, you’ll give it to them. Yup, that’s correct Phil, Republicans want to alienate entire groups of voters because as we know, that’s how you win elections. You’re just too sharp. The left has nothing positive to run on so they fabricate charges involving every voting faction in hopes of squeaking out an election win. Desperation is in the liberal air.

To the radial left, all critics are extremists and racists. The radical agenda of the left’s includes a war on women's health issues, attacking economic freedoms and the very foundation and decency of the country, jeopardizing legitimacy of elections, warmongering, racial divisiveness, criticizing the right for trying to restore financial health to the country, disrespecting the rule of law, the legal process and trashing the constitution, embracing policies that force businesses to offshore and outsource just to stay competitive, and attacking the quality of education through zero desire to enforce illegal immigration.

Demos Faces Objections To Petition, Accuses Altschuler of Organizing Them

"The war on women? How about over 100 or so new laws passed by state legislatures"

Which is completely in line with the passage of Roe vs. Wade. States are within their rights to ensure the health of a woman during an abortion procedure. Your rhetoric is filled with lies and misrepresentation. " Apr 29, 12 10:35 PM

Republicans have made it clear they do not oppose re-authorizing VAWA. Their opposition is driven by additional provisions to accommodate same-sex couples and illegal immigrants. Democrats are using the issue to manufacturing another partisan, political divide.
" Apr 29, 12 10:52 PM

Phil, if you’re the voice of Tim Bishop, Tim should be very concerned. In your rants, the facts seem to get a little blurry. As you wrote “The last president even said that he wasn't concerned about finding Bin Laden and gave up looking for him.” The exact reference goes more like this: W in fact said “he is not worried about finding Osama bin Laden as he cannot hide from the U.S. forces forever”. "He's the one who needs to be worried. But I want to assure you the objective is not bin Laden. We'll get bin Laden…We want him dead or alive ... but we are not too worried about him. ... He is the one who needs to be worried.” Your portrayal of the statement is less than accurate. " Apr 30, 12 12:05 AM

You have to remember that the seriousness of the charge outweighs the lack of evidence, because no evidence is needed among liberals to make insidious charges. The truth will come out in both cases and hopefully the guilty will get their due process and just desserts. The left has once again gotten the candidate they desire with Mitt seemingly getting the GOP nod. Mitt would be an improvement over Obama and a good start to repair the damage done by Obama and the democratic congress. " Apr 30, 12 8:44 PM

Phile wrote: "Of course the national debt skyrocketed under Obama- he actually added the costs of the wars to it"

There really is no bounds to your falsehoods, is there. Federal government expenditures and deficits just don’t go into never never land to be pulled out of a hat at a later date. The wars have been funded through supplemental budget requests and appropriated spending.

From a factcheck piece that looks at the truths and untruths of both sides: “while Bush added $5.1 trillion in his eight years — mostly due to tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan…” It goes on to report “the Treasury Department’s handy “debt to the penny” website shows the nation’s total debt stood at $10.6 trillion on the day Obama took office and it had increased to nearly $15.4 trillion by the end of January 2012 — a rise of more than $4.7 trillion in just over three years."

So you see, Obama's spending in 3 years has now surpassed W's spending in 8 years. The facts suck, I know. " May 1, 12 3:57 PM

Liberal playbook, page 74; “The seriousness of the charge outweighs the lack of evidence; repeat it until the unproven allegations stick”. This is a story from last year sweeping the liberal stratosphere trying to keep an unproven allegation alive all to do as much damage as possible since Obama can’t run for reelection on HIS performance. As you gravitate away from the liberal blog and read other sources you get a different portrayal of the circumstances where Mitt Romney has virtually no direct connection. At worst, it’s his son’s wrong doing assuming any of it is true. The Romney camp released the following: “It’s not surprising that a left-wing blog with a highly partisan agenda would publish false material as it relates to Mitt Romney. Bingo. " May 2, 12 9:02 AM

Phil wrote: “You conveniently left that out from the factcheck info you posted.”

It was left out because it is no longer accurate. The piece was written in January 2012. As of March 2012 Obama HAS IN FACT surpassed W’s deficit numbers. But I suspect you already know that but chose to continue down the partisan path. “According to Mark Knoller at CBS News, the inevitable is official: The national debt has increased more in President Obama’s just over three years in office than during eight years of George W. Bush:

The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.

The latest posting from the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department shows the National Debt now stands at $15.566 trillion. It was $10.626 trillion on President Bush’s last day in office, which coincided with President Obama’s first day.”
" May 2, 12 11:06 AM

Since when did the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department become a right wing source? The debt limit became an issue when it became unsustainable. It's both parties fault and began to become noticeable during Bush. It became in your face noticeable, during Obama and his crony lobbyists, which he said he'd never do (another broken campaign promise). I have no problem blaming Bush for his fiscal mismanagement just as I'm calling Obama on his even worse mismanagement. What Romney does with it when he wins remains to be seen and I'll call him on it as well if he breks his promises. " May 4, 12 12:10 PM

Counter Protest By Immigrant Laborers Held At Southampton 7-Eleven

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone,.especially to Senor Editor. A word to the wise. Bad... very bad....no more soup for you. " May 5, 12 12:29 AM

Seems it is more disrespect for the law of the land perpetuated by illegals - whether there are any illegals present at the 7-11 or not. The counter protesters are essentially protesting against the laws of the nation. Liberals seem to have difficult discerning between following and respecting the rule of law and that of hate and racism. They are two very different issues. " May 7, 12 9:51 PM

Randy Altschuler Unveils Jobs Plan

Empty store fronts - says it all. It doesn't matter what you’re driving, the store fronts are still empty – yup, Tim Bishop. Cutting taxes does not mean cutting services. It means making sound decisions without a blank check and eliminating burden on the middle class. Reducing regulations does not mean that our environment will suffer. It means striking a balance by safeguarding the environment without encroaching and having overbearing burdens to economic growth – both are possible. Repealing the inheritance tax means eliminating a tax burden on income that has been taxed multiple times already. Why should a life event trigger another tax that might force local families who have farmed land for years to be forced to sell just to pay an inheritance tax? " May 8, 12 8:32 PM

East End Has Among Highest Gas Prices In State

Progress, some of the facts of your claims, are let’s say, not so factual and worthy of correction. With gas at 61% higher at this point in Obama’s term than the same point in Bush’s, W had a net gain of jobs – 1.1 million according to factcheck. Obama continues to have a net loss of jobs of about 1.6 million. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are no less “illegal” than our current military efforts in Libya. The kids you reference who now have health insurance, are in fact, adults at that stage of their life. The world has lost complete respect for the US because of gaff after gaff by Obama, not to mention, loss of our financial respect with the downgrade of our debt rating. Seniors started saving on prescription costs under Bush through the medicare prescription drug plan, it’s partially what contributed to Bush’s 4.9 trillion of debt which Obama has already surpassed in his three years in office to Bush’s eight years. " May 10, 12 2:08 PM

Not even close there Phil. I mentioned none of the above and never disputed gas went to $4 under during Bush. I do think gas prices are influenced by many factors. One of which is energy policy. If your policy is to drive prices higher as it is with Obama, well, no crap Sherlock, of course the spculators will play an even more prevalent role; they know it will go higher. During Bush's first 26 months in office gas went up 7%. During Obama's firs 26 months - prices are up 67% - at $3.10 a gallon. And we know they've gone higher from there. When a president purposely wants to drive the price of gas upward, it deserves scrutiy and crticism because it affects the every day American drastically. " May 10, 12 6:09 PM

New York State Assembly Approves Law To Help Immigrant Students Get College Scholarships

The ez answer is it is state vs. federal government; two completely unrelated animals. I might also suggest not getting your news from liberal opinion blogs that sensationalize starving granny to save the Pentagon, because Republicans hate old people, children, and adoption, as the source notes. The democrat held Senate yesterday with a vote of 97-0 unanimoulsy rejected a budget resolution based on President Obama’s 2013 budget. It failed to get any votes, even by his own party. In a 99-0 vote, all of the senators present rejected the president’s blueprint. It’s the second year in a row the Senate has voted down Obama’s budget. Now democrats are on record (once again) acknowledging how out of touch Obama is.

" May 17, 12 8:07 AM

Better check your news. My sources tell me the House late Wednesday approved a bill reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, setting up a possible conference with the Senate in which Democrats will push hard for Senate-passed language that they say offers better protection for women. The reauthorization was approved 222-205 with six Democrats voting with Republicans. The piece in question (as you well know Phil) is inclusion of language that does not include lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, which the original bill when passed also did not. It's more election year gimmicks on the part of the democrats.

" May 17, 12 8:13 AM

So the 1% "depend" on their (illegal) employees getting unemployment in the winter months? That makes no sense. Illegals engage in unskilled labor that can be easily replaced. And why are illegals getting unemployment? " May 18, 12 12:44 AM

A. Business depend on Tourists.
B. Businesses depend on the 1% and most likely to hire illegals
C. Businesses don't provide year round employment
D. Businesses depend on employees getting unemployment in the winter months.

Conclusion: Illegals are getting unemployment. " May 21, 12 2:33 PM

“most other countries separate those children from their general population and don't include them in their data.”

So Phil, you seem to be saying that the learning disabled ARE included in the testing data in the US and are failing to perform on the SATs and other tests that determine achievement and that’s the reason why the US scores have declined. Holy failing grade, I think you’re on to something Einstein! I find including a disabled student in acheivement oriented testing to be completely cruel. I'd like to file a complaint with the Department of Edumacation.
" May 22, 12 8:54 PM

"Yes,the learning disabled are usually included in the standardised testing unless their disability disqualifies theem from the testing."

Phil, that's the grand daddy of double talk. Hedge your position much? So if the learning disabled are included in the testing, then I would deduce from your two step that they're not actually learning disabled and your original statement was complete crap. Got it. Thanks for clarifying. " May 22, 12 9:47 PM

I couldn't agree more Phil, but that's not what you originally wrote. You wrote "most other countries separate those children from their general population and don't include them in their data" which purposely insinuates that the US includes the learning disabled in their data (and this drives test scores down). Now, you are making a qualifying statement by saying that the learning disabled are separated out if they are able to take the exam based on their learning disability. This gives a completely different context and contradicts your original statement. BTW, most other (industrialized) countries while handling learning disabled children differently under their system do the same thing. " May 23, 12 9:04 AM

National Parties Take Interest In Bishop and Altschuler

Figures and baggers don’t Lie, Democrats do.

PARTIALLY TRUE: Taxes have gone DOWN under Obama. FACT: True, because tax revenues are the lowest in year, but they went down due to expansive tax credits as part of the Stimulus debacle that failed to jump start the economy and resulted in a trillion dollars of more debt combined with the Democrat approved Bush tax cuts.

FALSE: Spending has gone DOWN under Obama. FACT: This myth is the result of recent liberal bloggers that ignore actual numbers. During Bush's 8 years new debt accumulated was $4.9 trillion mostly due to tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. New debt under Obama in 3.5 years, now well over $4.9 trillion and counting having hit the Bush mark in March 2012.

FALSE: The affordable care act will SAVE money AND reduce the deficit. FACT: The assumptions built into the early estimates during the passing of Obamacare are proving to be false. Collecting fees for ten years but doing business for six are but one of the smoke and mirror gimmicks built into the early estimates.

FALSE: The Ryan budget will add 3 TRILLION DOLLARS to the deficit. FACT: Ryan’s budget will make up that lost revenue by eliminating TBD tax credits, deductions and exclusions. The CBO has the latest Obama budget for 2013 adding a solid $3.5 trillion through the next decade while Obama claims it will reduce the deficit by $3.2 trillion.
" May 24, 12 12:53 PM

Ahh yes, the old pushing granny over the cliff ploy. The only problem with liberal claims of republicans killing medicare and social security is, they're not true. Republican's "ending medicare" is Politifacts 2011 lie of the year. A more appropriate term is republicans are saving both entitlements as they proceed head on for bankruptcy. How can you "kill" or "end" a program that would still exist??" May 24, 12 4:27 PM

Bishop has exported more jobs to foreign countries as a politician working for his constiuents with his votes for stimulus funding than Altschuler has as a business man.

And what an ignorant and bigoted statement to classify an entire group of people into one myopic category. And this is the left, the tolerant and accepting. Anyone “loving” women is a tad sexist too IMO, I would think you’d want to respect a women as individuals first and foremost.

Check your facts too Bob on the military spending statement. Politifact looked into this and found that while the United States, which guarantees the security of the 28 members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, among other allies, spends at least six times more than the next largest spender, that the U.S. spends far more than other countries on defense, but it falls short of his claim that U.S. spending exceeds that of all other countries combined. International research shows that United States’ defense funds make up between 40 and 45 percent of the world’s total military spending. They rated the claim "Mostly False." BTW, defense spending is mandated by the Constitution. Entitlement spending is not. Entitlement spending is referred to discretionary spending for a reason.

"Obama created more jobs than Bush did"

While debateable, I'm sure Tim Bishop and the 12.5 million people currently out of work find that very comforting.

" May 28, 12 9:39 AM

This pretty much says it all. Great job Tim and Barack. Our country is in debt up to its eyeballs and those who will pay for it can't find a job. “In Weak Job Market, One In Two College Graduates Are Jobless Or Underemployed.”

From the Huffington Post - The college class of 2012 is in for a rude welcome to the world of work. A weak labor market already has left half of young college graduates either jobless or underemployed in positions that don't fully use their skills and knowledge.

Young adults with bachelor's degrees are increasingly scraping by in lower-wage jobs – waiter or waitress, bartender, retail clerk or receptionist, for example – and that's confounding their hopes a degree would pay off despite higher tuition and mounting student loans… Taking underemployment into consideration, the job prospects for bachelor's degree holders fell last year to the lowest level in more than a decade.
" May 29, 12 9:08 PM

The US economy added 69K jobs in May, fewest in a year. The US economy added 69,000 jobs in May, fewest in a year; unemployment rate rises from 8.1 to 8.2 percent.- The increase drove the number of unemployed to 12.7 million. FORWARD!!!!

" Jun 1, 12 9:55 AM

Dear Tim, thanks. Obama has shelled out more in federal spending than the five presidents that came before him. New analysis shows federal spending by president as a percentage of GDP, and it doesn't reflect well on Obama. "There has been a dramatic increase in spending under the Obama administration.” "Most of it is attributable to year one of his presidency and the stimulus... but President Obama has continued to take spending to a new level." Federal spending was close to 20 percent under the Carter administration, dropped to 18 percent under Clinton, and is currently at an incredible 24 percent of GDP. According to the Congressional Budget Office, federal spending may hover around 22 percent for the next decade.
Federal spending is also higher this year than any year since 1949. The last time spending was higher—in 1946, it was 24.8—the country was just coming down from the exorbitant rates of spending during World War II.

" Jun 1, 12 9:13 PM

"We need to increase taxes to spend on infrastrucure-that's how you create jobs."

You won't that in economics 101; that's a recipe for government to destroy long term growth and ingenuity. Government programs are the cause of joblessness. Dig huge holes and fill them up again, or repair roads and bridges already repaired with “shovel ready” stimulus funding. You need to provide incentive for businesses to grow and the free market system to identify where to make investment. Under the current regime, businesses are afraid to do anything because of the uncertainty created by Obamacare and other government intrusion. Institute the ability for private enterprise to compete with foreign companies, keep union intervention minimal. Unions exist primarily to keep out competition and they make businesses uncompetetive.

John Behan, Former East Hampton Republican Committee Chairman, Endorses Bishop For Congress

Tiana, no one here is questioning or criticizing Behan’s service and sacrifice. But, to be fair since you've injected it, Democrats have routinely criticized the service of military leaders, and the military disabled. Remember General Betray Us (Petraeus)? A decorated US Army leader for 37 years who the left took a full page ad on in the New York Times to deliver their agenda, just because they didn’t like what he had to say in a report on the status of Iraq. They hatefully accused Petraeus of “cooking the books” for the White House, which was pure claptrap, as you put it. When Obama nominated General Petraeus to be the new top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan, right on queue, MoveOn erased any reference to the Betray Us reference from its website.

Then we have McCain and Dole. Both openly criticized by the left for their political viewpoints and McCain even criticized by Obama himself.
