UPDATE: New Owner Of Former Library Building Is Former Goldman Sachs Partner

Did you not read the article? The building sold for $2.875M, not under $2M, and the connection is "Mr. Sobel has also been a longtime supporter of the Parrish Art Museum and his wife is currently a museum trustee".

Officials Offer Explanation About Why Village Latch Inn Is Not Included In Southampton Sewer Plans

Groundwater doesn't discharge to the lake, no definitive study has been performed to shown that it does, only computer modeling that had the lake connected to the ocean as an estuary with the lake surface at sea level and this is not reality. The water level in the lake is higher than the groundwater table, therefore, the lake discharges to groundwater. Want to clean the lake focus on storm water flow." Dec 22, 15 10:14 AM

The lake is most definitely connected to groundwater, I never said it wasn't. Water flows from high "head" to low "head". If a lake has a higher "head" (surface elevation) than the groundwater table elevation, water flows from the lake to groundwater, if the conditions are reversed groundwater flows into the lake. Flow can change based on many different factors and may not always be in one direction (e.g. seasonal change). What I said was, its my opinion that lake likely has a higher head than the groundwater table and discharges to groundwater. Therefore, the agruement that installing a sewer system will clean up the lake is based on a false premise." Dec 22, 15 11:04 AM

East Quogue Civic Association Meeting To Discuss 'The Hills' Turns To Screaming Match

Not accurate, Kathleen Sealey was a scientist paid by Discovery to prepare the EIS for Bakers Bay, She had a non-disclosure agreement with Discovery, which is not unusual. She violated the non-disclosure agreement which placed herself and the university she worked for in legal "hot water". " Jun 12, 16 7:54 AM

Exactly, if the people of East Quogue and Quogue really want to improve the water quality of the bay, then they should not waste their energy on a development so far removed from the Bay and which will have little impact and focus on the thousands of residential properties surrounding the bay, discharging nitrogen from thousands of individual cesspools and more importantly applying tons of fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides on their property which wash into the bay with the first rain." Southampton Town Trustees Seek More Public Beach Access

I just don't understand, if these are public roads how can they be blocked off? Why doesn't the village immediately send a crew to each location and remove the barriers? I just don't get it." Jul 20, 16 11:50 AM

Dr. Gobler Says Luxury Golf Course Resort Would Leave Larger Nitrogen Footprint Than Subdivision

I don't know Chris Gobler personally, I understand he has an educational background (Phd) in Marine science. I can say from experience, 30 years as a hydrogeologist, that a marine science education and associated work experience does not make you an expert on groundwater hydrology or contaminant fate and transport. New York State just passed a law in 2016 establishing the profession of "Geologist". By November 2017 all geologic work in New York State will need to be performed by individuals licensed as professional geologists. I am curious to see if Dr. Gobler has the experience or qualifications to become a registered PG in the state. " Jan 13, 17 8:50 AM

PSEG Crews Begin Bolstering Power Grid In Southampton Town

"As part of the upgrades contractors will be installing new and more durable wooden utility poles that feature stronger bases, though the replacements will be the same height as the current poles" - Drive down Old Depot Road or along Montauk highway all the poles are 5-10 feet taller than the existing, so unless they are going to be cutting them down they are definitely not the same height." Toxic Blooms Spur Calls For Emergency Approach At Georgica Pond

Upgrading of residents septic systems bordering the pond will help, but the low hanging fruit and the larger contributor to the problem is storm water flow from these same residences, washing all the fertilizers and pesticides they apply to their lawns. Institute a ban on applications of fertilizers and pesticides on lawns bordering the pond and installation of storm water controls for properties further away. That is the only thing that will help." Hampton Bays Fire Department Added To New York Superfund List For Contamination

Money,

0.04 micrograms/liter (ppb) is equal to 40 nanograms/liter (ppt), which is a relatively high detection limit for this analysis, which is typically 2 ppt. However, when the analytical laboratory is analyzing samples with high levels of PFAS the detection limits go up (instrument interference) so in this situation 40 ppt detection limit is not unreasonable."
