Poxabogue Golf Center to get a makeover

They could install a "double decker" driving range like the one in Riverhead or add stalls at the opposite end of the hitting area to double capacity." Jan 14, 09 12:10 PM

People give up pets due to economy

This is really sad. I can understand on some level the need of people to cut costs everywhere, and in those cases that could mean giving up your pet. I would be heart broken if I was faced with such a tough choice. I would do everything in my power to keep my dog. As many of said he is like my child but I guess not everyone sees things with pets this way." Jan 27, 09 5:45 PM

Beloved physician's assistant moves to Sag Harbor office

Thats really too bad. I don't live in East Hampton any more but as a kid my parents took me to Dr. Medler (who Mr. Dodge worked with prior to Dr. Isreal.) Mr. Dodge is great and I'm sure lots of people will end up going to Noyac rather than change providers." Jan 27, 09 5:47 PM

Carabine may run for Town Board

I will definitely vote for Mrs. Carabine!" Mar 4, 09 10:41 AM

Supervisor pushes plan to adopt driveway standards for emergency vehicles

I believe that East Hamptn has also considered (if not already implemented) criteria regarding access to houses by emergency equipment. If I recall correctly this issue was raised following the fire at Dick Cavett's house in Montauk which fire trucks could not easily access because of trees and a winding driveway." New show a real 'pain' for hospital

Relax is right! The point in making those critiques of the FICTIONAL hospital in the show is to draw sympathy for the Jill character as she tries to improve the hospital and also tempt Dr. Lawson into joining the staff there. " Jul 10, 09 5:19 PM

Carabine close to sealing a third-party bid for East Hampton Town Board

Ms. Carabine said this week that SHE has the 372 signatures necessary to wage a campaign.

You should correct that typo." Aug 11, 09 1:52 PM

East Hampton third-party petitions challenged

The challenge to these independent candidates is ludicrous. In my opinion this is a clear case of the "established" parties trying to fend off any competition through legal wrangling rather than by actually making a good case for their own candidacy!" Aug 28, 09 11:24 AM

Carabine's East Hampton petitions thrown out by elections board

What did Mrs. Carabine allegedly do incorrectly with her signatures? I signed one of her petitions - and no one elses. I am a property owner and a registered voter in East Hampton. Why was my signature "thrown out" ?? What is going on here?" Sep 1, 09 10:57 PM

Waiting game continues for McGintee

McGintee should resign, but as others have said, his not resigning is indicative of his ego." Sep 9, 09 9:58 PM

East Hampton couple returns woman's missing wallet ... and $2,400

I once came home from work to find a delivery that was not meant for me - I lived on Middle Hwy, it was addressed to Middle Lane. I looked up the intended recipients phone number and called them to let them know I had their package. They were quite happy and thankful and came to pick up the package." Sep 30, 09 12:01 PM

Montauk Ambulance Company addresses concerns about emergency response time

I think it would make sense to unite the volunteer ambulance departments so that members from any of the towns could respond to calls in any other town if they happen to be in the area of the call at the time rather than waiting for a mutual aid call. For example, a member of the East Hampton ambulance who perhaps works in Montauk could respond to Montauk calls during the day. I would bet that people join the departments based on where they live (in fact, I think that is a requirement) but often worked in another district so they are their during the day" Dec 9, 09 10:05 PM

Well what I meant by uniting them was that rather than having seperate ambulance corps in each hamlet, East Hampton, Springs, Amagansett and Montauk, you would unite them into one big corps.. I presume this restructuring could be done and the insurance handle appropriately." Dec 11, 09 12:02 PM

East Hampton plans to cut number of departments in half, offer early retirement

This sounds like a great plan! I hope the Town is able to reduce the number of staff without costing too much in "buy outs" -- why not just lay off people? I mean, I can understand wanting to help them out as oppose to just cut them loose, but if you need to borrow money to do it, maybe its not a good idea? I understand too, peoples feelings that the police contract is bad although I don't know the details of it, I don't think you can underpay police and expect to have a good force. I like that many of the EH Town Police members are people who have grown up in the area, and with the cost of living in our area being what it is, its understandable that they are paid what they are. Finally, I think reassessing is a great idea - especially now that land values are down considerably, no one should feel like they are getting screwed and that would be a great way to increase town revenue over the long haul." Hamptons Online sues former publisher, seeking millions in damages

Wow.. I did not know that Rob had sold off any part of Hamptons Online! And how he's being sued by them!?! How ironic! I guess it comes down to the contract he signed when he sold Hamptons Online and any non-compete clauses in that contract or his termination agreement, etc. Good luck Rob!" May 13, 10 11:49 PM

Lady Bonackers edge Islip 4-3 in first round

Did anyone READ this story before it was posted online?

"Eighth-grader Casey Waleko struck out to end the fifth inning and she struck out one batter and another was forced out at second in a near double play before Islip loaded the bases in the top of the sixth." I assume that Casey Weleko struck out as a batter to end the 5th inning and then PITCHED the sixth? Since there is no mention of who pitched for the Bonackers until later in the article this is very confusing. And if she struck out one and another was forced out at second "on a near double play" how did that runner get on base?

"and then 'things got bizarre,' Reale said, when the Lady Buccaneers attempted to walk Meghan Hess." Isn't Meghan Hess a member of the Lady Bonackers? So shouldn't this say that Islip attempted to intentionally walk Hess?" May 24, 10 3:13 PM

Glad to see they edited the story!" May 24, 10 4:01 PM

Woman killed in motorcycle accident on Napeague stretch

Mrs. Sea -- I don't have kids, and I certainly never did anything stupid that could have resulted in DEATH. Sure I did stupid stuff but nothing as stupid as speeding on a motorcycle.

This guy definitely should be charged with manslaughter given that he was fleeing the police. Its not like he was "just" driving too fast and lost control of the bike. So tragic any way you look at it." May 25, 10 5:06 PM

No, I never drank and drove -- you can ask anyone who knows me. And as you can see I'm not on here anonymously so it will be easy for you to ask me if they know me and ask if I'm lying." May 25, 10 11:12 PM

East Hampton citizens cry out against dark sky extension

The "complaints from the business community about the expense of the fixtures at a time when they are struggling with the economic downturn." is a cop-out. If they had taken care of the issue FOUR YEARS AGO when it was first enacted and the economy was still good then everything would be fine. Why did business wait? They had enough time to plan for the fixes budget appropriately. The town should say "Hey - fixing the problem will be cheaper than paying the fines" and leave it at that." Jun 2, 10 11:19 AM
