Public Hearing On Deepwater Wind Application In Wainscott Thursday

May 15, 2018 11:31 AM

A special joint meeting of the East Hampton Town Board and the Town Trustees will be held on Thursday night, May 17, at LTV Studios in Wainscott.

The meeting will be a public hearing to garner comments from the community on an application by Deepwater Wind for easements from both the Town Board and the Trustees that would allow the company to run a power supply cable from the Atlantic Ocean sea bed to beneath the beach at Beach Lane in Wainscott, and then beneath several town roads between the Beach Lane parking lot and the PSEG Long Island substation in East Hampton Village.

The cable would connect to the proposed South Fork Wind Farm, a collection of 15 wind turbines generating electricity proposed by Deepwater Wind, which will apply for permission from state and federal agencies to build the wind farm in the ocean about 30 miles southeast of Montauk Point.
